We know that back in Feb,2011 Microsoft and Nokia announced their alliance for the smartphones. Nokia announced the shifting of Smartphone OS from Symbian to Windows Phone 7. Since that announcement the Symbian lovers were in restless condition because they wouldn’t know when Nokia is going to drop the support of Symbian and they will have to leave this OS as well.

So in the result of   this rising issue Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop cleared about the issue in an interview with Nokia Conversations Blog. He said that although they have decided to make Windows Phone 7 as their primary smartphone platform but this doesn’t mean that we are going to drop the support for Symbian at once. As there are very great number of Symbian users so we will continue the full support for Symbian at least till 2016.

So if Symbian lovers are double minded about buying the Nokia smartphones right now because of the platform shifting, they don’t worry because you have 5 more years in which you enjoy the Symbian updates and many more from Nokia.

Below is the video of Interview given by Nokia CEO Stephen Elop in which he addressed this OS issue and the changing direction of the company.
